There you have it folks.

The Sounds of “The Struggle”! Plus, “Where the Production Designers AT?”!

Hey Guys,

So, the updates keep flowing in! As we clean up the screenplay and look to production, establishing a crew of filmmakers and actors is now a priority. First off, I’d like to formally announce that Stel “Bomber” “Ph.D.” Balamos will be composing the score for “The Struggle”! For us here at the Next Level Group, this is a huge acquisition! His unique musical flavour is something that is hard to come by, and something we truly admire here. He will definitely be huge part of the success of the short. More information will be coming up about Mr. Bomber, but we do have more news to get to this post.

As I was saying, it is time to assemble the crew. Currently, our main objective is to acquire a Production Designer. As we look to begin our work on bringing sets and characters to life, the need for a Production Designer is pounding at our door. We do leave the door open for those that have the background or knowledge necessary for the job and are not necessarily “Production Designers”. What would that be exactly? Well… a heavy background in art, ability to understand architectural illustrations, some light knowledge of art history, some light knowledge of fashion, and of course, A LOVE FOR FILM! Pretty wide field huh? So, if you yourself are a Production Designer, or by chance you match our criteria, make sure that you contact us at info@nextlevelpics.com. If not, please spread the word. You never know who might just save the day.

Thanks for the continued support!

The Next Level Group to Participate in the “24 Hour Film Challenge”!

Hey Everyone!

It’s been a little while since we’ve updated everyone, as we’ve been hard at work with “The Struggle”, but we’re here with some news today. It has been decided that the Next Level Group will be participating in the “24 Hour Film Challenge” in April, and at the moment we are looking to fill our small eight person roster. We had a great experience last year and to be honest, we’re all really excited about it aswell.  There is more to our participation this year however, as it is a part of the game plan for “The Struggle”. What we are trying to achieve with “The Struggle” is by no means a simple feat, or a cheap one. In the world of independent film making that’s when you turn to the alternative methods of producing. A six-minute piece showcasing some work, along with the chance to win some much-needed prizes was more than enough to convince us that this is a must at this point in pre-production.

If you are interested in film or even looking for a good time, I’d say check out the site for the Toronto Film Challenge and get more info. We are also looking for three (3) more people to fill our roster. At the moment we are still looking for:

(1) Actor

(1) Camera Operator/DP

(1) P.A. (Production Assistant) (In a situation like this … expect to be doing a little bit of everything!)

The one thing that we ask from everyone participating is $25 to cover the entrance fee of $200 for the team (covers the cost for admittance to the Gala and screening for each person apparently). Interested in joining the team? Contact us at info@nextlevelpics.com and we’ll be in touch shortly.

That’s all this time, but tomorrow we have even more updates coming your way.

Thanks for the support!

Preproduction on “the Struggle” officially begins!

Our latest film project “the Struggle”, a tale of morality and writer’s block, has been pushed passed the idea stage and is now in full swing preproduction. Look out for updates regarding the project, and if you are a fellow filmmaker be on the look out for positions in the production crew that we will be needing. This project is about to change everything, but it’s going to be a crazy six months! Get pumped!

The 25: Speed, Rain, Darkness, Damage, Glory

Last year in December, the 25 Hours of Thunderhill took place. This race is literally the longest race in the world! Our in-house director/editor/graphic designer, Andrew Hamilton, works with GoRacingTV.com, an amazing site that brings news and info to enthusiasts of pro and club racing, who had teamed up with speedsportslife.com blog writer Rob Krider to bring you a comprehensive and engaging documentary about the event. Rob and his team did the best they could under the strenuous circumstances of the event in terms of taking video, and with the footage that was provided “The 25: Speed, Rain, Darkness, Damage, Glory” was born. It turned out great, despite the craziness of the footage, which does nothing but add to the experience. The piece will be up later this evening and there will be a link here for you guys to go to. Check it out, and while you’re at it take the time to enjoy some of the other original programs on GoRacingTV.com.

For anyone who has come back to look for a link to the 25 hours of Thunderhill documentary, you will have to wait until early tomorrow morning for it. Sorry guys! There was a bit of a problem getting up to the video server today and they’ve pushed it back until tomorrow morning. I’ll have the link for you as soon as it’s up guys, and believe me, it’s well worth the wait!

Yep, it’s finally live. Really sorry about the delay, as it seems there was some trouble on the end of the video stream provider, but now it is up and ready to view. We’re trying to track the hits back to GoracingTV.com, so for the time being the documentary will be available here. A link is also available in our video section. Enjoy!

One Year Ends, Another Begins…

With the new site and new look we’re feeling mighty fresh here at Next Level Pictures. We’re also extremely excited for what this year will hold. As we wrap up the all-too-long production of Paranoid, we’ve started the pre-pre-production of the short that will take up the first six months of this year, the Struggle. Learning from the experiences of the previous year we have come into the new year with a new game plan and new production workflow that we know will truly bring our projects to the Next Level. We will be keeping you updated on both Paranoid and the Struggle, and be sure to look out for new music videos and content as the month continues.

Thanks for all the support!
